The International Fire Service Journal of Leadership and Management (IFSJLM), is pleased to announce that Dr. David A. Greene received the IFSJLM Annual Research Symposium OSU Student Presentation Prize. Dr. Greene was recognized in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the annual IFSJLM Research Symposium. During the opening session, Dr. David A. Greene received the Prize and presented a paper on the findings of his recent dissertation research.

The National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM), an association whose principal membership comprises the senior fire officials in the United States and their top deputies, is asking the country’s largest online retailer to stop the sale of smoke alarms that are not tested to nationally-recognized standards and which may not comply with applicable building codes in many states and municipalities. NASFM is also asking the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to take action to ensure consumers are protected and purchasing safe products.
Chief Dennis Compton has been named the 2016 recipient of the James O. Page EMS Achievement Award. The annual award is presented to a leader who has made a positive impact on a national scale, creating and promoting non-clinical innovation and achievements in fire service EMS management.
Currently serving as chairman of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, Compton has established a long and successful career in the fire service. With more than 32 years of experience, Compton has served as the assistant fire chief in Phoenix as well as the fire chief in Mesa. He is as past chairman of the International Fire Service Training Association and past chairman of the Congressional Fire Services Institute. Compton continues to support fire-based EMS in his role as co-chairman of the Fire-Service Based EMS Advocates.
This Third Edition of the Fire Service-Based EMS Electronic Tool Kit provides fire service managers and fire fighter union officials with the latest information on fire service-based emergency medical services. It includes three separate sections: Section One provides information and tools related to fire service-based EMS in general; Section Two provides specific information and tools directly related to the impact of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and Integrated Community Health Care Programs (ICHCP) on fire service-based EMS; and Section Three provides critical information related to policies and practices for responding to incidents involving violence.

The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) and the International Fire Service Training Association at Fire Protection Publications, Oklahoma State University (IFSTA/FPP/OSU) are pleased to announce that Gerry N. Bassett has been selected as the 2016 Dr. Anne W. Phillips Leadership in Fire Safety Education Award recipient. Mr. Bassett is the recently retired Public Education and Training Program Management Chair at the National Fire Academy (NFA).
